Welcome to This Week’s Groove
This week carries real momentum and real reflection. We came off a strong run of shows that reminded me exactly why this matters. Friday night’s 70s Rare Groove Funk pop-up delivered grit, bounce, and deep-pocket grooves that set the tone. Saturday’s DEEP Dive into Soul Resonance brought warmth, emotion, and depth, and Sunday’s DEEP Dive into Jazz Funk stretched into a full experience that held people from start to finish. These are the kinds of sessions where the music is not just played, it connects, it settles, and it stays with you.
Outside of the streams, finally seeing Thievery Corporation live was a personal highlight. A group I have respected for years, and finally experiencing that sound in a live setting, brought everything full circle. On top of that, stepping into History for the first time made it clear that the right venue still matters. The sound, the room, the energy, everything aligned, and it is now one of my favourite spaces in Toronto for live music.
We are stepping away from broadcasting this coming weekend, March 27 to 29, for a preplanned getaway. A chance to reset, recharge, and come back Easter weekend, April 2 to 5, with clarity, energy, and even more intention behind every session.

🚨🎧 We’re Live on SonixFM, and the Momentum Is Real
Thank you to everyone who pulled up for BEANS & BEATS on Sunday, March 22. The DEEP Dive into Jazz Funk session was a full vibe from start to finish. We crossed 300+ listeners on SonixFM, reaching 320 with more cycling through, and that is a strong step forward as we continue building toward 2000+ consistent listeners.
Across Mixcloud and Twitch, the energy continues to grow with real engagement, real conversation, and people staying locked into the music. This is not background listening; this is active participation, and that is what makes this different.
We are off air next weekend, March 27 to 29, and will be back Easter weekend, April 2 to 5, ready to build on this momentum.
BEANS & BEATS It’s A Jazz Thing continues to grow inside its audio-only home on SonixFM. No visuals, no distractions, just four plus hours of curated listening. Reaching 320 live listeners shows that the foundation is strong and the direction is right.
The 300-500 consistent-listener target is now clearly within reach. Jazz is not rushed, and growth is not rushed. We are building this patiently, intentionally, and with trust in the music leading the way.
