🎧 Reloop Mixon 8 Pro 4-Channel Controller | First Impressions After Two Studio Sessions

By Dre — Music Selector, Playlist Curator & Host of Love music Love wine (LmLw) Radio [Blog Post 1 of 5]

I’m not the DJ you’ll find lighting up weddings or clubs. I’m a story-driven music lover who pairs wax and WAV files with wines, coffees, and the occasional whisky flight on LmLw Radio. My job is to make every broadcast a sensory journey where the notes in your glass harmonise with the notes in the song.

After two full studio shows on the brand-new Reloop Mixon 8 Pro, I can already feel this controller sliding into my workflow like a favourite corkscrew. Over the next five reviews I’ll dig deeper, but here’s what’s leapt out so far—and why I’m thrilled to bring it on-location in the weeks leading up to our SIPS & Sounds launch at Blue Door Wine Shop, Thursday July 24.

🌀 Jogwheels That Disappear in Your Hands

Those 149 mm metal platters glide like old-school vinyl yet show all the vital data—track time, position, BPM—on tiny built-in screens. I stay focused on describing a spicy Syrah or a smoky Coltrane solo instead of squinting at a laptop. It’s tactile, informative, and keeps the conversation (and the music) flowing.

🔀 Dual-USB: One Cable Out, Next Curator In

In show #1 I ran djay Pro for Apple Music streams; in show #2 I jumped to Serato Lite to trigger my scratch library. The Mixon’s USB-C + USB-B ports made that swap seamless—zero reboot, zero dead air. Guest curator plugs in? No sweat. That’s broadcast gold.

🏠 Studio-Proof & Street-Ready

Next up: a mini-tour through wine bars, cafés, and intimate venues before SIPS & Sounds. With stand-alone mixer mode, phono inputs for my vinyl gems, and rock-solid build, the Mixon 8 Pro looks ready for anything—whether I’m wedged between a wine rack or perched behind a tasting bar.

🎚️ Instant Atmosphere via FX & Filters

Four chunky FX toggles and colour filters on every channel let me paint in real time: a soft echo while I pour a Pinot, a sharp high-pass to make space for tasting notes. It’s subtle but powerful—like adding the perfect garnish to a well-built cocktail.

🧠 Pads + Neural Mix = Curator’s Playground

With Neural Mix™ inside djay Pro and those big, responsive performance pads, I can mute drums, loop Rhodes chords, or isolate vocals on the fly—all while storytelling about terroir or roasting profiles. It’s less about DJ tricks and more about immersive curation.

📍What’s Next: Live Energy on Tap

Several remote broadcasts are locked in before July 24, each one a fresh test of the Mixon’s travel chops. Then comes SIPS & Sounds—a live sensory showcase where every sip hits a note. I’ll report back in Review #2 on how the controller performs amid clinking glasses, room chatter, and real-time requests.

The headline so far? Reloop Mixon 8 Pro respects the craft of selection as much as the art of mixing. It’s quick to learn, hard to rattle, and built for storytellers who weave flavour and frequency into a single narrative.

Stay tuned. The journey—and the pouring—has only just begun. 🍷🎶
