Welcome to This Week’s Groove
The past week was full, real, and exactly what this journey is about. It started with a simple Friday night out at Cibo with my better half and family, good wine, great cocktails, and the feeling of finally slowing down after a long workweek. Sometimes that reset is needed.
Saturday took us straight into a DEEP Dive with GET Funked, exploring 70s and 80s Forgotten Funk & Soul. The conversation during the show was just as important as the music. When people asked what “forgotten” meant, it opened the door to something deeper. These were records that never got the push or the marketing, but still had the quality, the groove, and, in some cases, the potential to be number-one records. That is what makes digging powerful. That is what makes discovery real.
Saturday night carried that same energy into the city, out dancing to DJ Scratch Bastid and Rich Medina. The music was on point, the vibe was exactly what it needed to be, and it reminded me how important it is to be in rooms where music is truly felt.
Then Sunday tested us. A power outage right in the middle of BEANS & BEATS. No panic, no excuses. We adjusted, came back later from 6 PM to 8 PM EST, and finished the session properly. That moment right there is what this is about. Consistency, commitment, and respect for the music and the people who show up.
