🎵 REVIEW #2 – The Reloop Mixon 8 Pro in the Real World (Almost)

By Dre — Selector, Curator & Host of LmLw Radio Love Music. Love Wine. Share Vibes.

Let’s get one thing clear upfront: I’m not a DJ spinning in nightclubs or weddings. I’m a music selector and playlist curator, and I host LmLw Radio — where the vibe is built track by track, sip by sip. This isn’t about hype drops or fog machines. This is about soul, groove, storytelling, and pairing music with wines, coffees, and good conversation.

After using the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro for multiple in-studio shows, I can confidently say — this controller is not just for DJs. It’s built for people like me. People who live inside their libraries. People with terabytes of music (I’ve got 2TB and counting). People who care about how a song feels, not just how it’s mixed.

And while I haven’t taken it to my wine club venues just yet, I will be in the coming weeks — bringing the Mixon out for intimate sessions at Vintage Conservatory and Curatus Wine Club, and eventually headlining our SIPS & Sounds launch at Blue Door Wine Shop on July 24.

Here’s what I’ve discovered so far — and how the Mixon 8 Pro is shaping up to be the creative hub for all of it.

🎯 5 Real-World Use Cases for the Mixon 8 Pro (Beyond the DJ Booth)

1. The Deep Library Selector

You’ve got 2TB of FLACs and WAVs? Cool — so do I. The Mixon makes navigating and playing your high-quality digital collection feel intuitive and fast. Using djay Pro or Serato, you can browse, preview, cue, and blend files from your hard drive with precision.

🎧 Set cue points for musical highs that match a bold red. Loop an intro that swirls like a Syrah. This is curation, not mixing.

2. The Online Radio Host & Livestream Storyteller

Whether I’m live from my home studio or prepping for on-location broadcasts, the Mixon makes things fluid and flexible. The dual USB ports mean I can easily switch between my main laptop and a backup — or even bring in a guest curator mid-show — without dead air. Mic inputs and EQ control keep my voice sounding clean and warm.

3. The Tasteful Event Curator (Coming Soon)

I haven’t brought the Mixon to my wine club events just yet, but when I do, I know I’ll be using it to control every element of the sound. With 4 channels, I can mix tracks, play loops, and even drop vinyl into the session thanks to the phono inputs. Whether it’s a laid-back Bordeaux and Blues set or a bright Riesling + Rare Groove night, this controller can handle the vibe.

4. The Vinyl Collector Who Still Streams

Old meets new. Analog meets digital. That’s the space I live in. The Mixon supports standalone mixing and direct vinyl input — so I can blend a vintage wax pressing with a fresh streaming track from TIDAL or Apple Music without blinking. For selectors like me, that’s a dream.

5. The Aspiring DJ Looking to Level Up

If you’ve got a playlist obsession and you’re thinking about getting into DJing, the Mixon is the perfect first serious controller. It’s powerful, but accessible. You don’t have to know everything to sound good — just start exploring. Want to try looping? Done. Want to scratch? Go for it. Want to isolate vocals and build your own mashups? It’s right there.

🔧 6 Powerful Features That Keep Me Coming Back

1. Standalone Mixer Mode

Even without a laptop, this thing works. Plug in vinyl, CDJs, your phone — it mixes it all. When I take this to a tasting room with no Wi-Fi, I’ll still be able to set the vibe.

2. 4 Full Channels for Full Control

One for the main track. One for a background loop. One for vinyl. One for the mic. Or however you want to set it up. The point is: you have options. And you can layer sound like a sommelier layers flavor.

3. Big, Responsive Pads for Real-Time Magic

These aren’t toy pads. They’re responsive and feel great. I’ve used them to loop a vocal, fire off jazz drops, and cue up transitions. With Neural Mix, you can even isolate drums or pull out vocals live.

4. FX That Actually Matter

No gimmicks here. The four FX toggles and filter knobs on each channel let me add subtle space, delay, reverb, or dramatic build-ups without overdoing it. I’ve been using them to shape transitions and underscore the tasting notes in real time.

5. Stream + Play from Multiple Sources

I can load a track from my hard drive, blend it with one from TIDAL, and cue up another from Apple Music — all in one set. That’s power. That’s flexibility. That’s modern crate digging.

6. Neural Mix = Secret Weapon

This is the feature that turns heads. I can take out the drums, leave the melody, or isolate the vocals of any track. It gives me the freedom to speak, narrate, or shift the energy without killing the groove.

📝 Final Thoughts — So Far, So Damn Good

The Reloop Mixon 8 Pro is shaping up to be the centerpiece of everything I do — from LmLw Radio broadcasts to future wine club shows, tastings, and sensory sessions. It doesn’t just help me play music — it helps me curate and guide a journey, one track and one glass at a time.

And if you’re a music lover, collector, selector, or someone thinking about stepping into the world of DJing — let me say this plainly:

👉 This controller is worth it. 👉 You can grow into it. 👉 You don’t have to be a DJ to use it like a pro.

  • ✅ Start with djay Pro for simplicity, streaming access, and Neural Mix

  • ✅ Organize music by vibe (not just genre) — it helps with flow

  • ✅ Pair tracks with moods: citrusy jazz, oaky soul, bold funk

  • ✅ Get quality headphones and a mic — it completes the vibe

  • ✅ Most importantly: Play with passion. Pair with purpose. Pour with heart.
